ESTHER SNYPE MYER, WE REMEMBER YOU

It is with deep sadness that I report that our treasurer and dear friend, Esther Snype Myers, passed away on March 22.

Besides being this editor's best friend for the past 20 years, Esther has been one of the fiercest fighters for justice in the Twin Cities.  She has been heavily involved in the fight for justice for the Minnesota 8 and for freedom for Mumia Abu-Jamal, political prisoner on death row.  She was a key organizer in Can the Klan, the group that organized a major protest in 2001 against a white supremacist rally at the State Capitol.  She has been involved in CUAPB since our onset.  Until her injury in December, she was a fixture at the courthouse and orchestrated our courtwatch program. Her death leaves a huge void in the local movement.  From a personal and political standpoint, all of us in CUAPB are heartbroken.

Many have expressed a desire to participate in an event to honor Esther's work and life.  In that spirit we announce:

Remembrance Event for Esther Snype Myer
Sunday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m.
Walker Church, 3100 16th Ave S, Minneapolis

Please join us to remember the contributions and share memories of dear our friend.  Refreshments will be served.
